According to tvjobs.com, Carey Pena is new weekend anchor at 3TV, replacing Kirsten Joyce who left back in June. I must say that I had difficulty watching Carey early on. However, she has improved significantly over time!
Pena's major issue may well be her seriousness while delivering stories. It's somewhat a throwback to the old days and is quite different than most talking heads today. Personally, it doesn't bother me.

Actually, I like serious newscasters in the evenings. Could you imagine Tara Hitchcock in the evenings? I can barely tolerate her inabilities in the morning.
I was impressed with Carina Sonn. While she needed a little more seat time, she did a very good job anchoring the weekend news after Kirsten's departure. I think she would have been a good choice also. So does this mean that Carey is now part of One and a Half on Your Side (instead of 3 on Your Side).
It might have been a done deal when Kirsten announced she was leaving. Remember that Carey had been on maternity leave around that time. So, they probably had to wait until Carey came back to inquire if she wanted the job and start the formal negotiations.
Carina Sonn will probably become the primary sub for Carey and Tess.
