Congratulations Ron Parker -- Again

...For getting the job to replace that Brady Bunch kid on the Sirius satellite "Totally '70s" channel.

Unless Ron is voicetracking, though, our former 93Q/Oldies 107.5 personality will have a long day beginning Monday (7/7): Noon-6 on Sirius 7, then that WCBS-FM gig 7-midnight... Tom Taylor says Ron is replacing Barry Williams (Greg Brady), who's moving to weekends.

Now that you're rich, Ron, can I borrow $13,000?

He is voicetracking. Sirius is only about 6 or 7 blocks away from where CBS is. He can get all he needs to do done at Sirius in 2 to 3 hours. He says he prefers to walk that short distance. I would imagine, all things considered, it is probably quicker to walk.

Good goin' Ron!

Barry's show was really sounding phoned in. You could tell most of the time he was not in a radio friendly place when he tracked it, and really rushing though it. Ron will improve that shift tremendously. My favorite jock on "7" would be JJ Walker aka Spyder Harrison.

Does anybody know is Sirius still has it's studio on Houston? -is anybody working out of it?

WOW!! - that's AWE-SOME!! You KNOW that with Ron on, Sirius 70's is gonna be THAT MUCH BETTER!! You go, Ron!! 8) 8)

So...what do you guys think about Ron Parker's Sirius show? I listened to him Monday and Tuesday on Sirius 7 and thought that he REALLY kicked it up with the 70's music...but that's just my opinion.... 8) 8) 8)

"I Second That Emotion" 8) It's the RIGHT time, the RIGHT place, the RIGHT feel...BRAVO, Ron!! :)

Now that it's...

been TWO months already (WOW! :)) since Ron started keeping it Totally 70's on Sirius 7 (70's channel), i'm just curious as to how you guys here in Houston have supported him in this new effort. As for ME, as someone who's been a student and a writer about BOTH radio and music for OVER 25 years, I am VERY impressed with HIS personality, HIS intelligence, HIS sense of humor, and HIS passion for what he's doing. Ron is a TRUE talent who makes Sirius 7 Totally 70's that MUCH better!! BRAVO, RON - DUDE, YOU ROCK!! :):)

I think even RON would be uneasy about this "Ron Fest"-but you are correct, it is a wonderful improvement. He was really jazzed about it when I saw him a few weeks ago. When I saw that, I became very jealous-and I am syndicated! :p

I think there are more fans than you can imagine. I enjoyed Ron's show on 107.5. I started listening to him back in the Q Zoo days. Not to shabby to be in New York on WCBS FM. Atleast I can now hear him on my Sirius radio doing the 70's show on channel 7.

I just realized you all were NOT talking about Ron FOSTER.
I remember Ron FOSTER from 93.7 KRLY back when they were on Westheimer next to KDOG(?)-TV 26.

Ron FOSTER was an inspriation.

I was there that night listening to KILT-AM when he did one of his auditions for the job as DJ and screwed up 2 or 3 intros, stuttering and misidentifying bands. He was terrible but enthusiastic.

Then after high school, as I was getting into the business, he was moving up to KIKK -- and then, when I was on the air in other cities, I could drive around and hear his syndicated show.

Inspiration.

Lesson: Just because you suck at first -- you could excell later!

Ron PARKER -- he's that guy on the Q-Zoo here in Houston in the '80s (staying on topic here) where I used to be his faithful traffic reporter back in the days when you had to be on the CB- and 2-way radio with truckers, city vehicles and friends -- back before you were just a traffic screen "reader," long before today with all the freeway cameras and the wonderful technology -- and I would contribute jokes to the morning show's John Lander -- and now PARKER is a millionaire in New Yawk Citay.

I saw him at the Houston Radio Reunion and he promised me that $13,000 loan.

He said it was in the mail.

I keep checking the mail.

Are you sure you got my address, Ron?

That's odd... Parker told me at the reunion that he would send me a personal letter of recommendation to go with my resume... and all I got was a lousy check...
