CONGRATULATIONS to Lubbock's New #1

BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Lubbock's new Top Radio station... 104.9 The Beat!
Looks like Magoo, Tino and the rest of the crew did their "Thang". Congratulations, guys! Scared of the Dynamic Duo... LOL

Hey that's great but I have a few questions about this.
First, I thought the new ratings were quashed, so how would we even know they where they ranked.

Second, I thought the Beat was already on top on the previously? And if by tht you mean the old book stands, than are they really the new Top Station, or just the dominant station?

I sure don't mean these to be critical, and I do wish everybody the best over there. If it's true, I'm happy that the Top station is one that has working website and that doesn't rely on Voice Tracks. I've always said that competition is good for the listener. Let's see what Z102 does now.

BTW, I hope that helps the kids at KBTE sell more advertising, since that's what pays all the bills! Heck, maybe even some pay raises (ha ha ha... ).

Don't mean to be critical, Garrett? That's your middle name. It wouldn't be a normal day if you were in agreement or nice about anything. But that's fine. That's part of your charm... Anyway, I'm almost sure that in the last book the Country station reigned supreme. And to find out who's kickin' butt, all you have to do is listen really carefully.

It's true... KLLL was #1 in the last book (or two or three). Even though the ratings were embargoed (it means the 12+ #s weren't released to the public), there were still ratings. I have no way of substantiating the fact that KBTE is now #1 (moved ahead of KLLL), but I wouldn't doubt it. On your question about what Z will do now... I'm sure it's still just status quo over there.

I'm very sorry you feel that way, but I really don't mean anything negative at all. I'm sorry if I've said anything to hurt your feelings, I don't think negativity is charming at all.

Ok, enough about me, back to radio...

I agree. All Z102 has to do is what all 6 Former GStr's will do. SELL SELL SELL. As long as Z102 isn't falling off the chart, I doubt anything will change. It's kinda like having 6 Sports stations where ratings don't really matter. And in away, they all kinda are!

Geez Lousie. Get off Garrett's butt. He made an observation and brought up a good point. If the ratings are embargoed,How would you know? You really wouldn't. Many stations claim to be #1 and that's fine but until the actual book is released,I wouldn't congratulate prematurely.

What are you, his mother? You people trip me out, your one way in life and yet you refuse to accept that you are that way. I'm pushy and at times overbearing, so what? At least I can admit that. And give me a freakin' break, you act like people don't talk. This is radio for goodness sake.

Yeah it is radio. You give a fine shining example as to why listeners are leaving and going to satellite ,ipods, and internet in ever increasing numbers with that fine mature attitude of yours. Simply put the ratings were embargoed, and if you had any skills or knowledge about radio you would know that saying a station is number one in the ratings when the ratings haven't been released shows a complete lack of knowledge about radio itself. Don't let that dusty desert air get to ya. Try to touch base with reality sometime. It will work wonders for you.

I'm so fortunate to have you to show me the way.
Let's not forget I'm also responsible for the fact that Hip Hop and RnB is on the rise and the reason that the Dixie Chicks have recorded a more Rock n Roll type album than Country. My God, what does one do with so much power? I know... I'll hire you to do my hiring and firing. Now what was it you were saying in regards to reality?

Can we get back to talking about radio please?
"ILoveJaime," I am sorry if I have come accross in any way negative in the past. Now, I would appreciate it if we move on please.
Thank you.

Tell your mother overthere, he was the one who jumped on the defensive. I wasn't being smart, I wasn't being rude, I was being me. You and I have had disagreements about issues in the past and have realized one thing... No two people see things the same. If we can't be honest here then we have nothing. Trust me when I say I will no longer respond to any of your postings or his for fear that I would hurt someone's feelings.
What in the Heck are you apologizing for? I didn't ask for it, nor do I want it. It's called a difference of opinion...

Ok seriously lets break this up...

I'm sorry Ilovejaime but this argument is ridiculous. Garrett was just stating his opinion and you got all defensive about it.

This is garrett's opinion:

Hey that's great but I have a few questions about this.
First, I thought the new ratings were quashed, so how would we even know they where they ranked.

Second, I thought the Beat was already on top on the previously? And if by tht you mean the old book stands, than are they really the new Top Station, or just the dominant station?

This was your response to it:

Anyway, I'm almost sure that in the last book the Country station reigned supreme. And to find out who's kickin' butt, all you have to do is listen really carefully.

------

All garrett was doing is stating an opinion...and he had a good point too. there was no need for you to get so defensive over a little opinion.

Anyway thats all I have to say. lets talk about radio now like Garrett said int he previous entry...

I'm done babbling. Lets talk about Lubbock radio some more.

Are you on the air Garrett?

Or are you sacking groceries.

Monday Morning Quarterbacking is rarely important when beer guzzling fools sit on their lazyboyz and say how they would do it differently.

Why not ask a pd of a station and get a real answer.

Critical should be your middle name.

Here are things that I see:

We have enough spanish stations, spanish leaning stations, bilingual stations etc. We have all the major formats covered once or twice over.

The ONLY thing that Lubbock needs an alternative station cause KTXT doesn't cut it.

Everything else is covered.

I'd like to see more coverage of Spurs/Mavericks games up here but I'm from San Antonio so I'm biased.

That's all I got.
