First of all...unless you've never worked in radio, everyone knows this was a stunt.

But...a stunt that hasn't been done around here since oh...Duane Ingalls Glasscock took over WBCN? Might be that long since it's happened.

It was hokey. It was silly. It was vintage Mike Adams. I like Mike very much. He has never forgotten that this is entertainment first. This industry spends so much time talking about research and cost-per-point, that we often forget that it's about producing a product that would make people want to listen. Mike doesn't put himself above the audience, and isn't above being self-deprecating. He comes across as honest, and more of a fan than some other hosts, who believe that the audience is uninformed, and whose opinions are less valid because they don't have a media guide in front of them full of stats.

Mike Adams' Sportsworld is still the best programming NECN ever produced. I'm happy he's finally got the gig. It's been a long time coming, and station management sure took their time. But, in the end, Jason got it right. He usually does.

I'm not the biggest fan of that company these days, but there's at least one daypart of one station I'll tune in to when I'm out at night.

Yes - Congrads to Mikey Adams - he definitly does deserve the spot. It was rather funny to hear the whole thig play out last night on the Big Show, etc.

But what's new with you Paul? Any word on if 'BCN is going to move you to a more full-time gig? I figguresd that since they hired you - they would have a bigger plans for a more full-time gig for you - since you have proven ratings and experence in Major Markets.

Agreed, though a quick glance at the BostonSportsMedia messageboard seemed to show that many of them felt "OK, OK, we get it, now talk sports". Sure,
sports talk took a back seat to the stunt last night but c'mon, it was fun,
guys.

As one caller said, "not only are you funny but you know your
sports". And he--sorry, Mr. Nation--is a lot more fun to listen to
than the previous host. Just my opinion of course.<P ID="signature">______________

I dont get the big deal about Adams. He's entertaining as a sidekick, but not good as a host. If you are an avid sports fan you realize he's unprepared on his show quite often. I will say that I repect that he's not rude to the callers like Dale Arnold and D&C.

yeah, congratulations... he's an improvement over Ted... but the prank BS caused me to tune out last night... and I'll probably stay tuned out for a few days... including the Big Show because I don't need the navel gazing. I want to hear sports talk.

First of all, thank you for asking.

I'm not sure what, if any full-time plans are in store for me at WBCN. They know I need to work FT soon, and I'm sure that it's difficult to allocate any budget at this time of year. And quite frankly, anyone with any programming acumen realizes it's never a good idea to make a change during a book. Plus, I don't want to see anyone have to go through what I'm going through right now. Everyone currently in place at WBCN have been amazing towards me, and I consider them all friends. I'd hate to be thought of as a vulture...awaiting the death of someone upon whom I can feed. It's just bad karma.

So...I'm doing whatever shifts I'm asked, including the next two weeks in a fill-in capacity in a couple of good dayparts, and hoping I can contribute to WBCN's successes in 2006. I have had ratings success here in Boston, albeit with an inferior signal. It'd be fun to see if I could do well on a station that plays on a level playing field. Hopefully it's WBCN. If not...you know where to find me.

I've got a couple of other potential things going, but would prefer to stay home. I've turned down several job offers that might have been professionally rewarding, but were just not the right thing for my family. In the end, were it not for my wife, none of this would matter. So, if she wants to stay, I need to do everything I can to make that happen.

Anyway...tomorrow's going to be a massive cume and TSL day for WBCN. No matter what station you prefer to listen to, you gotta admit...it's all about Howard tomorrow.

Thanks again for asking!

Not to hijack this thread anymore than I already have but. . .

Would 'BCN consider pairing you with an Adam12 or more likely Hardy or Mike Hamelton? I guess you wouldn't know their plans untill that day we catch you on the air with them . . .

Anyways - your too good to be only part-time - so here's hoping that someone will have the brain (or lack their of!) to pick you up. Hmm, maybe in your next 'BCN gig you could hold yourself up in the studio and demand that 'BCN give you an anwser on your future. . .

Worked for Mikey!

I don't know honestly. I know I like those guys, and I'm positive if that were to happen, that any combination would be fun at it's worst. And perhaps some great radio. Everyone knows we could use more of that.
