Congratulations to Terry Dorsey

Former Dayton jock Terry Dorsey (WTUE, WJAI, WING) who has been in Dallas for years since leaving WING is among the class of 2007 being inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame. He started there at KPLX and is probably most recognized for his work on KSCS. Of course he created the now world famous Hiney Wine bit in Dayton, and after moving to Dallas syndicated it to over a hundred radio stations around the country. It is still being syndicated by another company now. Fun stuff is at hineywine.com. Terry is an immense talent with a warped and spectacular sense of humor and this accolade is well deserved.

Was his air name Greg Mason on WTUE? If so, I remember listening to him in the early 70's...WTUE The Rock Of Dayton...bummed me out when they dropped top 40 for AOR...that was a GREAT radio station.

As one who worked with Terry at WONE in the 1970's, I can attest to his talent. (I remember him handwriting the Hiney Wine stuff in a little spiral bound notebook he would carry with him.) And that he has done great things in Dallas since leaving Ohio is unquestioned. Yes, he was "Greg Mason" on WTUE during their top 40 days in the early 70's...and has, in interviews, laughingly said that during his short tenure as PD at TUE...he was the guy that sent top 40 down the tubes there. OK, maybe he wasn't cut out to be a PD...but he was, and still is, a great talent.

Congratulations are certainly deserved here.

I still have a 45RPM that has "Super TUE" jock greetings on one side & he's one of them (as many noted, the building housed Number 1 & 2...WONE & WTUE). I talked to him on the request line a few times back then...very nice guy--at least he was 35 years ago. Glad to hear that WTUE sent him on to bigger & better things.

Congrats Terry on the award! I miss the "King and Dorsey Report" on WING and later Z-93..it was great laughs. I also remember listening to you doing mornings at WTUE with its 50 song "tune index" playlist and hearing the PAMS "Solid Rock" jingles when I went to Lehman Catholic High School back in the day.

If you ever return to Dayton radio someday..bring back some Hiney and some oldies with it! Dayton needs a full time (and full powered) oldies station! Hasn't been quite the same since Kool 95 and 1600 WULM dropped their oldies several years ago.

Though I grew up mostly on WING I must also commend WTUE's short lived top 40 music format for its other personalities Dave Michaels, Bill Struck,Sean Mc Kay,Bill Lyons and the late great Bwanna Johnny(who was nice enough to let me in on a Saturday night in the fall of 1972 and showed me around the studio) as well.

Hey Bob, does that 45 have "Jason BABY Roberts" on it?
I'm almost sure it does. Bill Struck, Greg Mason, Bwana Johnny & Dave Michaels are definite...The other side of the song was The Solid Rock Song. Were you Jason Baby Roberts? And are you Mark Elliott from Q102?

Terry Dorsey is a true talent! Another WTUE/WING alum is Al Morgan (Al Connors) who left Dayton to work athe the Legendary 93 KHJ/K-EARTH 101 for maney years. Dayton produced some pretty amazing talent. Don't forget Mark Greco, now in Chicago TV!

I knew Al. Good guy. Is he still in So Cal?

Isn't Terry the originator and syndicator of the Hiney Wine franchise?

I was asked by a former co-worker of Terry's to dig out my old 45RPM of WTUE Jock Greetings & turn it into an mp3. Terry is on there with the Greg Mason air name along with several others. It's posted at wtue.bobandtanya.com if anyone else wants to hear it.

Last I heard Al was programming in Myrlte Beach, SC and doing voice over work. Terry was the originator of Hiney wine, actually it was Hiney Beer in Dayton & later changed because of possible conflicts with a certain beer compay. Both Al and Terry are Cincinnati natives.
