Connecticut connection on Buffalo's KB

Oldies fans in CT who remember Sandy Beach, Don Berns and Joey Reynolds
from their Hartford days many moons ago can enjoy all three on KB in Buffalo.
Check out 1520 AM any night (or late afternoon). KB does Oldies the way they
should be done with original 50s/60s jingles and commercials and (a hint to
PDs) PERSONALITY! The station line-up includes legendary Buffalo morning guy
Danny Neaverth 6-10am followed by Beach from 10a-12n. Steve Mitchell (great
voice) is on from 12n-3p and then it's wacky Jack Armstrong from 3-8p. Berns
is the station's voice guy and Joey's all-night gabfest from NYC is on KB
every night from 1-6a. Check out one of America's TWO great radio stations
on 1520. And thanks to owner Entercom for having the good sense to return the
station to its heritage. What a find for radio fans.

Oh, Yeah!

Kudos to Entercom for making it happen and keeping it alive. I listen every night. Dig that AM-Stereo Sound!!!

I listen to it as much as possible at night. My bedroom isn't very conducive to radio reception... but I can pull it in sometimes. Terrific station, wish it could be done in Hartford.

I don't think they're actually broadcasting in stereo...just the pilot signal so stereo radios (the few that exist) switch to wideband mode.

True, the audio feed is mono. There is no stereo separation, though the stereo carrier pilot is still on.

When did that happen? Last time I listened, it was quite stereo.

I don't know exactly when KB stopped sending a true stereo audio feed to the transmitter, but it's been mono audio with the stereo light on for at least a couple of years now.

I read somewhere that they no longer use a stereo STL. If that's true, then they're not even capable of broadcasting true stereo audio anymore, despite the stereo carrier signal.
