Connecticut Public Television Overnight?

Last night, Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) had their usual cable-only night feed on the air around 1:30 AM. I couldn't help but notice the big white bug in the corner which read "CPTV: WEDW-TV Channel 49/D 52 Bridgeport/Stamford". Was Comcast of New Britain/Hartford carrying that station themselves or was it Connecticut Public Television sending that feed to Comcast?
______________

Pretty interesting. I don't know the answer, but the last time I remember CPTV having individual ID/logos was in the late 80s or early 90s. It was the big "CP" but the letters were actually over each other and the ID said "WEDW Bridgeport". Whereas today you see a general feed of CPTV with the IDs of all four stations. Pretty neat how you came across a single WEDW bug last night, especially in New Britain. I'd also be interested in hearing why.

I don't have an answer, but it's on again right now (at 1:15 AM ET) on Comcast channel 7, the normal spot for WEDH-TV channel 24 Hartford at all other times.
______________

Wow, I see it now too, pretty interesting.

Is WEDW on Direct or Dish locals for the NYC DMA? If so, they may be broadcasting 24/7. I'm sure the sat companies do not like dead air in the overnight, any more than the cable cos. But CT PBS probably has a fiber feed to the sat companies' head-ends in the Hartford DMA. Just a guess...

Here's an educated guess...

Most cable companies which have direct fiber feeds have off air backups incase the fiber fails. The fiber could have failed and the cable company switched over to the WEDW receive, because WEDH signs off at night time now (again, they were operating 24/7 for a while there).

What I don't get is why some CPTV stations regularly sign off at night and others don't? For networked stations like these, I always thought they were all on or all off.

It's gotta be CPTV's doing. I saw the same thing prior to 6AM on COX Cable Channel 5, which is WEDH's channel position. I've never seen any other logo on CPTV other than a logo that says CPTV or their old skool "C" Logo. The "CPTV/WEDW-49 Logo" stayed on the screen until the program ended just before 6AM. There was no logo during the breaks, but anything during the breaks promoing a CPTV show had the regular CPTV Logo. There was no Network Legal ID before the 6AM show started and a minute after the 6AM show started the regular CPTV Logo popped up.
