Connecticut Stations Drop Howie Carr - Sponsors Don't Want To Be Associated With Carr

Is that whole line up bird fed?

I don't see a local morning show.... I see Imus.... who may or may not be down for breakfast... is anyone taking him in "The Death Pool"? .... Why would you run a has been who has used terms that have not exactly endeared himself to some groups? What does he bring to the table? I assume he costs next to nothing. Lots of bad blood between Howie and Imus, although Imus paid for one of Howie's houses iirc.

I assume Savage will be delayed as he is live 3 to 6, and they are not going to delay Howie.... I wonder if they are taking all 4 hours?

What are they going to run on the weekends?

As for Kuhner, the chances of him going any further than he is are slim and none.

I wish he would go far away, far far away, there is nothing good I can say about his radio skills.
Why WRKO hired or renewed him is beyond me.

Maybe I am a dinosaur, but I miss Brudnoy, Burns, Nelson, (not Bob, Avi!)

The guy that WRKO had filling Carr's slot while he was on 1510 would have been my first choice, Mike Siegel

Kuhner is right next to Kars For Kids in my reach for the button conditioned response book.

PS Last I heard Kuhner, when he wasn't plugging weight loss snake oil, was also voicing spots for the "whatever it is Chop House", and for him to say anything about the dessert menu, even in jest ( and I don't think it was, I think it was a slam at Carr), is not going to make the Sales dept or the sponsor happy.
 
I miss them all too, Avi was doing a Saturday afternoon program until RKO found someone to buy the time.

I wonder if RKO has a copywriter on Kuhner writes the spots himself. The burger at the Hanover Street Chop House was the "best burger he has ever had" the car he got from the Mitsubishi dealer is the "best car he has ever driven." Although sometimes he says it drives like a plane and is like a tank. I wonder if the client appreciated him telling his listeners " if you want a cheep car go to Michaud Mitsubishi" The sandals he wears from Belmont Medical Supply are " I swear to you, the best sandals I have ever worn."

It is kind of sad how he has to spend the last segment of his Friday show with Bill Kelly shilling for his financial services and the best financial show on the radio, then on Saturday Kuhner appears on Kellys infomercial followed by Kuhners wife the next hour.

I agree: Siegel is an intelligent and very articulate host. Unfortunately, right or wrong, there were some negatives as well; to wit, this being provincial Boston, he's not local, he did the show from his home base in Seattle. He is a very serious host with very little levity. And the killer: I believe 'RKO's ratings were low enough during that day part they HAD to bury the hatchet with Howie.

Could Siegel handle mid-day? IMHO, a resounding yes!!!
