Connecticut Style

Did anyone see the new show produced by WTNH? It's called Connecticut Style and is hosted by Sonia Baghdady and Desiree Fontaine. It debuted today at 12:30 and I assume it is replacing the second half of NewsChannel 8 at Noon. Today they had guests from La Tavola Ristorante on Highland Ave in Waterbury - Chef Nicola Mancini made lobster ravioli from scratch - and a woman from Chef's Equipment in Wallingford was onhand talking about kitchenware and utencils. I don't know where they're doing this show from, but they're using a nice, bright, sleek-looking set. A lot of this all reminded me of "Better CT" on WFSB-3, but to be fair, it's clear that CT Style isn't trying to compete with or replicate them because CT Style has it's own unique feel about it.

I tend to be a critic of WTNH/WCTX, so I will give credit where credit is due. I think Sonia and Desiree did a great job, they're the rising stars of Channel 8. And it's also nice to see that the station still has a pulse and is up to new endeavors that will keep things fresh. Hopefully this turns into a successful effort (which I think it will). It'll be good for the station, good for CT viewers, and good for the CT economy since they're keeping it local and featuring CT businesses. I'll end by saying I was impressed by what I saw today, hopefully they can find a way to carry this energy to the rest of the news division.

It is nice to see local shows like Better Connecticut and this new one. Better then some national shows out there. Being local is a great thing.

Even when the show is essentially 30 minutes of paid advertising?!? We have a ton of them here in Phoenix, but I don't like watching paid advertising.

If nothing else the promo for the show is interesting. Sonia has those "raccoon" eyes which looks totally odd (you would think somebody would have noticed that). The shot of Desiree is especially good and seems to show off her friendly demeanor.

I actually haven't seen one episode all the way through since I was walking in and out of the room but I may try to sit for the whole thing tomorrow if I'm not too tired from shoveling snow.

Sitting here watching Connecticut Style and the thought hit me - this is just a rehash of what a program Cablevision of Connecticut use to produce called "The Fairfield Exchange" and then later shortening the title to simply "The Exchange" The interview area of the "Style" set strikingly similar to what The Exchange set looked like.
