To go along with what's on the Classic TV board, it's given me an idea about Connecticut TV stations:

1- Who signed on first?
2- Who was Connecticut's first UHF station?
3- Who was the first to appear on cable TV?
4- Who was first to go color?
5- Who was first to go stereo?
6- Who was first with a digital signal?
7- Have any of the past and present Connecticut TV call letters ever appeared on a TV station in another state?

I may already know the answers to #1 and #6 but am curious to know about the rest.<P ID="signature">______________

1. WNHC/6 (now WTNH/8) New Haven.
2. KC2XAK Bridgeport (NBC's & FCC's Operation: Bridgeport)
4. WTIC/61, first in stereo

Back in the 60s, Channel 8 claimed to be the first in color....if I remember correctly they said it was with the 1954 Rose Bowl (the station was NBC, CBS, ABC and Dumont).

First stations on cable....one of the first cable companies in 72 or 73 was Valley Cable in the Ansonia/Derby area. I'm going to guess the first commercial stations were 3, 8, 20 and 30 (I doubt 18 was strong enough to be picked up there).

At least one. At one time, the call letters of WVIT channel 30 were WNBC, which of course went to New York City's NBC station at one point. Channel 30 was an NBC affiliate, but the "NBC" in the calls actually stood for their city of license, New Britain, Connecticut.
