Connecticut TV Tower Questions:

Riding along I-84 this afternoon/evening, I naturally take a look over to the TV towers of WTXX-TV (WB) channel 20 (Waterbury area), WVIT-TV (NBC) channel 30 and WTIC-TV (FOX) channel 61 (Farmington area). I couldn't help but notice a short tower next to both the analog channel 20 tower and the analog channel 30 tower. Are these towers used for backup purposes or are they for a radio station?

It could be a Digital Antenna. I know when WHPX WAS broadcasting in digital, they had two towers up. THat could be it.

I don't know about WTXX, it has been years since I was last up there. I think there are just communications towers there.

WVIT's short tower is a still can be used backup, and was used while the tower work was being done for the digital install. WVIT's digital is side mounted.
