Connector for old Andrew 7/8" coax

I am looking for a connector for a really old piece of Andrew 7/8" coax. The only numbers I could still see were Andrew RG318. I called Andrew and the tech informed me that it was "probably" FHJ5 cable, and they don't stock connectors for it anymore. The only difference I could see in this cable compared to LDF5 is that the outer conductor is RIBBED instead of SPIRALED. That is why the connector, that some previous engineer installed, keeps falling off. I need it to go to an N-connector on the end. If anybody has a little more info on this cable, a PART NUMBER for the connector needed, or a website that might sell such a connector, please let me know!

Thanks!

Believe the connectors made by RFS~Cablewave are designed for ribbed, rather than spiral, cable.

Now whether one will work on the Andrew?

Ah, Sorry.
**CORRECTION**
LDF5 is RIBBED. The mystery cable "RG318" is a SPIRAL. That's why the connector wouldn't seat right. So, I need a connector for the spiraled cable.

Thanks, for the response TomT. It made me catch my error.

I was warned to be very gentle with a leaking gas barrier-to-terminal (for AM) on a 40 year old 3-1/8 Andrew line. They say gaskets like the big spiral outer sleeve are rare and damaged easily. Plus the copper may be somewhat brittle. Got lucky and it seems to be holding after slightly tightening the flat nut on the end terminal. Still have the old ATU building there just to protect where it connects to new 3-1/8” line over to the new ATU.

You might consider posting the question on the TowerPro group at Yahoo or maybe checking wiith distributors like Tessco or maybe Surplus Sales, just suggestions.

Thanks Guys for all of the suggestions! I was able to get another good look at the coax again yesterday and found HJ5-50. So, a quick Google search found me the cable and the connector I needed. I had to search every inch of that coax to find a spot where the number hadn't faded off, but I got. it.

Thanks again! ;D
