Connoisseur buys Cox CT stations

Just announced. Includes the LMA of YBC-FM. Personally I think it's the best case scenario, connoisseur runs some good clusters.

I sure hope that all of those employees don't end up with pink slips! Sadly, new owners usually do exactly that. :(

This now gives Connoisseur an orbit around the New York City market; they also own stations in Long Island and Westchester.

What station in Westchester do they own?
They have stations in Trenton, NJ and the Lehigh Valley, PA markets -- but none that I know of in Westchester.

I could not read the article. it is black background with black typing.

Anyone foresee format changes after this deal closes? WYBC, WPLR and WEZN all do well in the ratings, but do they bill well enough to satisfy the new ownership?

Aren't WPLR's studios in the same building with a few other stations?

No matter what happens, I'm sure it will be interesting! AS LONG AS NO PINK SLIPS result! I absolutely HATE the thought that some good radio people's jobs MIGHT be on the line. I am praying that everyone gets to say AND will get raises, too!! :D

During several visits to the Milford facility I didn't see any studios for WYBC there. I believe it's only administrative. Aren't the WYBC studios still in New Haven since it's only an LMA?

I doubt you'll see any format changes. WPLR and WEZN do particularly well in the 25-54 age group. So, they should be making plenty. There's always a possibility of cost cutting and some smaller changes, but Connoisseur's a pretty good company. A friend and former co-worker of mine worked for the old Connoisseur in Rockford, and the only thing he ever said that was bad about the company was that it sold to someone who didn't take very good care of them when it cashed out in '99 or 2000.

As for WYBC, it's probably a lot tougher of a sale, but I don't think the current LMA with Cox allows a format change. My understanding is that's always been a sales-only LMA, though there may be some other back office support and research Cox provides. So, unless the deal gets (or has been) reworked, you won't see any major changes there either.
