They've been slapping a lot of retailers about it lately, but I guess some of them (cough cough) are a little slow on the uptake.

I hate Conn's (appropriately named)...it's more like "Attack of the Commissioned Salesmen" when you walk in the door. No such thing as, "I'm just looking, thank you." :p

The Walmart on Clifford St in Fort Worth has these labels on every non HD television...including the standard definition sets with ATSC digital tuners....and on DVD players with no tuner at all ( will not be able to receive over the air broadcasts after this date)

Probably an overreaction to Wal-Mart getting slapped some time ago. I think every retailer did.

And if you want to pay for something in cash or just write a check, they still try to twist your arm to use their own credit instead.

Funny...I bought appliances from Conn's when I lived in San Antonio and had no problems whatsoever. Of course, I went in with a no-nonsense attitude, knew the appropriate pricing, told them I was charging it on VISA, and wanted free delivery -- if they wanted to sell me 6 appliances. And, of course, I had a coupon for an additional 10% off!
