Console suggestions...and a warning about Soundcraft

A year ago, we outfitted new editing workstations with new Soundcraft EPM 12 boards. And now? We have one power supply that's died and a headphone amp that fizzled both within a week. These were not mistreated, they were on UPS's...and well taken care of.

Contacting the rep, they first said that they'd cover it...now they're showing us the fine print in the manual..."turn off the console when not in use for extended periods" and "200 ohm headphones are recommended."

My question? What would you recommend for a simple editing suite? Are Yamaha consoles capable of being left on 24/7?

Our budget: $300-$600 per board.

Thanks.

I'd be inclined to just fix the power supply and headphone module. Or you could put in a separate headphone amp for less than your budget for a new console.

For what it'll cost to get one of these fixed AND the cost of a headphone amp, we can hopefully buy a better board. Thanks for your suggestion, but I'm looking for a better console. We have the budget.

I have a large Yamaha (16 channel and a kazillion ins outs, and inserts...that has been on 24/7 for six years and no ups used. Not a blip...and this is my third one
(only for larger capacity were they replaced). What else do you need to know?
Thanks JBI

Thank you. Spoke with a friend of mine today and said they've had two of the smaller Yamaha 8 channel mixers going for 3 years. Point taken!
