A construction permit for 96.5 FM Speculator, NY has been issued after the applicant, Joseph Tesiero paid a $3,000 fine for untimely filing of the full application for the CP. A call sign has also been approved for the new station. It is WYVS. If this stands for anything, I have yet to figure out what. Mr. Tesiero is a member of the family that operates Cranesville Block company in the Amsterdam area and also owns and operates WCSS 1490 in Amsterdam. This is also the same group that had their CP lapse for WKAJ 1120, St. Johnsville recently.
Speculator, located in the southern half of sparsely populated Hamilton county would be the county's first commercial station. There has been a CP for Indian Lake just 25 miles to the north out for some time. I am beginning to have my doubts that WNAK 105.9 will ever go on the air. Just went by where the tower was supposed to go this week, and nothing has happened.
One would think that the programming on WYVS may at least in part be simulcast with WCSS. Perhaps some satellite programming? It is going to have to be low budget in any case.
