I honestly don't understand how a channel could have multiple channels on it. I'm not even sure how that would work.

Cable companies had timesharing with different cable stations. One would air for 12 hours and then the second station would air for 12 hours, because there weren‘t enough channels on the cable system to give each station its own cable channel. Plus they reserved some channels for premium channels like HBO, Disney, etc.

I know Telecable in Kansas City did timesharing with some channels in the late 80s/early 90s. I want to say one was A&E and something else, but I can’t remember specifically. @Mark Roberts were you in KC back then and if you were, do you remember this?

Cable systems also ran FM radio audio on some channels in some markets too. I know KROQ‘s audio was run on a cable system, since I remember listening to an aircheck where Rodney Bingenheimer mentioned it. I don’t know how common that was though.

This box appears to be from Findlay, OH or somewhere near there as:
WLIO is carried full time
No WGTE
WKBD and CBET are the only Detroit stations carried
There is a Columbus wild feed channel
