Continuation of aborted thread.....

I think you're speaking for yourself. A simple visit to any electronics store will prove differently. The entire electronics industry is motivated around new technologies and devices.

Isn't that what personally means? ;)

Of course new technology is important but do you think phone users really care what the networking standard is as long as they get satisfactory performance? Of course not.

Twenty years ago, most people were perfectly satisfied with IBM Selectric typewriters. They certainly got the job done. Why would anyone want a computer?

Since you bring it up, Selectric typewriters were the epitome of the breed. Never has there been a machine with as superb tactile feel. Ask any old time secretary and they'll tell you computer keyboards today don't measure up. But you are comparing apples to oranges otherwise.

I think your objections are over how things are right now.

Yes, that is exactly what I said. We are definitely NOT ready for a digital radio conversion at this time. It would be a disaster. And by the time "they" figure out how to make digital terrestrial radio work something else will probably be on the horizon.

Things don't happen overnight. You have to start somewhere. You need to have beta testing. That's standard practice. It's going to take time, and there are typically bugs in any beta test. That's no reason not to start.

By the way, it looks like the original thread has been returned.

I was objecting to the OP's statement that "we might as well do it now". He was talking about a full-blown digital conversion immediately.

I hadn't had a problem all day until that particular post. Looks like the "sync" still has some loose ends.
