CONTINUING TORNADO COVERAGE SAVED LIVES

Several people on TV have already said the continuing storm coverage of WSB
(as well as other stations in Atlanta) saved their lives. Many were already without
electricity and others called them to warn that a tornado was headed their way.

I think such information is most helpful when stations plot the direction of the
storm and give warnings to the towns in it's path. TV weather technology has
made some huge advances in recent years. They can cut the storm in half and
look for hail, rotate the radar looking for downspurts and even tell you how high
a percentage there is that it is an actual tornado.

I know some stations will probably receive recognition and local Emmy awards for
their coverage.....AND THEY DESERVE IT.

The viewers in the Dallas-Fort Worth market should be fortunate to have stations that don't turn their back on the weather. Heavy rains, wind, cold, ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, whatever. I'm amazed at the new ability to measure how many lightning strikes in a given time and which storm cells have hail and how big it could be in diameter. I'm sure that technology would have been nice to have back in the day. We are even more fortunate that our tornado activity of the past several days was in the fringe of the metro and out in the countryside instead of direct urban hits, and not near as catastrophic as those witnessed in other states.
