I think Conway's perfectly fine alone, but also works well with the right partner. Sorry, IMO that right partner isn't Doug Steckler. Steck is unquestionably a gifted comedy writer, and would be better suited to a Phil Hendrie-like format, but live talk radio isn't his forte. He comes across like your cranky old uncle who you hope will quickly fall asleep on the couch after eating too much turkey on Thanksgiving so you don't have to listen to him anymore. That doesn't exactly fit well with the younger demographic KFI is trying to reach. Brian Whitman was a better match but KFI really isn't trying to do comedy radio and Conway does his snarky take on current events better by himself. I wouldn't mind seeing Steckler join Conway once a week on his Saturday show. He's tolerable in small doses as a change of pace. However the smaller audience on the weekend probably doesn't justify the additional salary, even just for one day.
