The thing missing from all of those formats is CONTENT. Or...GOOD content, as it were.
You can't pin this on "cookie cutter." Guess what...Grey's Anatomy is cookie cutter. Lost is cookie cutter. I see the same show here as I do in another market. Does anyone care? Nope. Because the CONTENT is good. It even keeps its audience through the commercials *gasp*. Radio had it sorta figured out with Stern before the satrad disaster, as well as in other, less national, examples.
You can complain about cookie cutter all you want, but once companies figure out the RIGHT way to do it, they're going to beat you and your "come meet us at Jim Bob Ford this Saturday" liner jock.
