Cool 1450 dumps the '70s

Cheap Channel's low-budget, low-fi AM oldies outlet, Cruel, er, Cool 1450, has apparently decided that they don't need the one or two listeners under 60 that they may have had, because beginning either yesterday or this morning they have dumped the 70s-centric music service they had been running the past couple of years (since dumping Alan Michaels and any other live, local voices they once had) in favor or an older-skewing 60s-based one. I even heard a couple of tunes from (gasp!) that long-forgotten decade of ratings death: The 50s!
Nothing newer than 72 or so.
Still the same dismal, muffled, muddy signal. Guess they figure the oldsters don't care about things like that....or nobody at Cheap Channel cares (probably the latter...)!

Is KWFM still using the transmitter from the existing (former KOPO)
site on Cherrybell?

Is it an RCA Ampliphase? Not sure if something that old could
be modified to pass I-CRAP. Or what about KOPO's original
circa 1946 Raytheon?

Speaking of old rigs, have you seen the even more ancient
RCA 250-watter at KCNA 1340 (before they moved to 580)
on Barry Mishkind's site?

Those pics plus the KVOA 1290 control room--and more--
on the website!

The Ampliphase exciter did the phase splitting. AM stereo was probably one of the things that hastened the death of this fine, fine rig.

We used to listen to Alan for years. What station is he on now? Can't seem to find him anywhere... ???

Go to page 3 of this Tucson board for the latest on Alan...
