Cool 92.9 Vs. Cruisin' 93.5

There are two oldies stations in the Hudson Valley, WBPM "Cool 92.9" and WCZR "Cruisin' 93.5". Both of these oldies stations are still competing them. Cool 92.9 had a good signal but the other one, is Cruisin' 93.5 had a weaker signal, because another oldies station on 93.5 got splattered by WBWZ's "Star 93.3". As you probably know, 93.5 is about 6 kw down from 92.9. Those two are being cannibalize, because the two are starting to hurt them. Any questions?

Re: Cool 92.9 Vs. Cruisin' 93.5/ oldies up for grabs???

Not sure what your statement is ???? 92.9 is good near poughkeepsie and crusin' isn't. Doesn't matter anyway as cool 92.9 has been sold and is on the way out. I'd bet a wimpy burger that the new owner will bag the oldies format....Once again, the oldies format will be up for grabs in the Poughkeepsie area- anyone care to guess if someone will pick up the ball? Demo's aside, 55+ target still spends $$$$$$$$$$$$!!!

Oldies has a great place on the AM band in Poughkeepsie, if 1200 WJGK is ever built.
I hope they don't relegate oldies to AM .The sound is terrible, and the signal goes nowhere at night. From its proposed tower site 1200 WJGK would barely reach Poughkeepsie at night. Since most AM stations don't even show up in the ratings I wonder why anybody would build a new one.

Don't count of WJGK being operational any time soon. If -- by some miracle -- it is, then it would be the same canned "moldy oldies" on their current WGNY-AM and presented just as poorly.

How do you figure that? Their proposed nighttime power would be 1,000 watts, and the tower location is right across from Poughkeepsie

I stand corrected on that point. When first proposed someone who I thought knew the facts posted that. The rational being that the 5 tower directional array is somewhat north of Poughkeepsie and WGNY had to get off 1200 to protect a New York City Station. Also, there is a deep North east null, and although they will be ok in Poughkeepsie as the graphic I copied from the FCC data base shows they won’t get much past Pleasant Valley. So my main point stands; local AM stations are swallowed up in chatter in only a few miles, thus sharply limiting their listeners. I will attempt to post the map.
