Cool 92.9's Last Day

Don't forget, tomorrow will be the last day of Cool 92.9. Rick McCaffery, Tony Flash and Rick Knight will be the last time that they were together on this station. Starting at 12:00 AM, the station will be flipping to what is now called Classic Hits. I hope Pamal will be ready to pull the switch.

I will record the aircheck for tomorrow. Stay tuned after the station ends, I will record the aircheck of the format flip. Stay tuned.

Yes, it is sad. Look at Rick McCaffery and Tony Flash, they're all left at the station. Rick Knight will be the last one on board to leave, because he will be on Lite-FM Saturday nights hosting "Studio 92/98" with Claire Channel playing classic dance music, just like the way that "Mix 102.7" usually plays. Same thing as with KTU as it is now.

Rick McCaffery will go to WKIP this Friday to do the "Solid Gold Jukebox", I will not be listening to the new show on WKIP, because the signal was crappy at night, but I can't hear doo-wop music on the new home WKIP.

Tony Flash is heading to Hudson to do weekends on WZCR's "Cruisin' 93.5", but I also not going to listen to Tony Flash on WCZR, because the station is still splattered by WBWZ's "Star 93.3" and the bad thing is, "Cruisin' 93.5" does not have a stream. I hope WCZR will stream online anytime soon.

What about Tom Kent? Is he still doing the "Into the 70's" and "Hall of Fame Coast to Coast" shows right up until the format change? ::) I guess one things for sure that tomorrow, Tom Kent will not be on 92.9, you will hear it on WTRY in Albany as well as WUPE in Massachusetts doing his show, but Tom Kent will not go to "Cruisin' 93.5", no way, it's not going to happen.

As I mention on the previous thread that Rick Knight is gone from Cool 92.9. :( He said his last words where he borrowed his closing line from Allan Sniffen of "Board Reflections". I wish Allan would give credit to Rick. He will be still be on Lite-FM on 92.1 and 98.5 for his Saturday night dance show called "Studio 92/98" with Claire Channel as I mentioned before.

Tom Kent will be his last syndicated show on Cool 92.9, but Truckin' Tom will still be heard on WTRY in Albany. I hope I will record this aircheck of the last 30 minutes of Cool 92.9 at 11:30 PM before the station will be flipping to classic hits at 12:00 AM. I will record that aircheck of the format flip tonight.

Thoughts.

:'(

I'm glad to hear they're keeping the WBPM call letters.

As for Jack Hammer, I remember him from WSUL in the 90s. Has he been with Pamal all this time?

Cool 92.9 has signed off as of 11:45. The new station will begin at NOON tomorrow, according to a message after that. Now they're stunting with liners about the new station.

By the way, I edited a page on wikipedia of the station's history. I'm new at updating pages on there and I'm not a radio expert, so if there's anything that's still not right, feel free to correct it. I also jumped the gun on some information on there about stunting, but it can be changed later. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WBPM

EDIT: Just another note...K104's Skywalker is doing a couple of the liners that are being run. Listen closely, I just recognized it.

Thanks for that history in Wikipedia about WBPM at 92.9, but where is the history of the old WBPM when it was originally at 94.3? I go to Internet Archive under the Wayback Machine, it was from the Northeast Radio Guide website which is no longer on Radio-Info.com. I found this link here. Go to the Hudson Valley Radio History section under WBPM and check it out.

I hope this one in Wikipedia tells you about the history of the original WBPM when it was at 94.3.

cool's website is blank...

Hooray! :D No more oldies on 92.9. This is the first time since WCBS-FM flipped from oldies to "Jack" back on June 3rd, 2005. Listen to WCZR's "Cruisin' 93.5" and no more Tom Kent. Listen to Tom weeknights on WTRY in Albany.

If you want to hear more oldies, listen to WABC's Saturday Night Oldies show with Mark Simone. That would bring some listeners from the former Cool 92.9.

I guess Mark Simone's show on WABC is a winner!

If you like to hear more oldies, listen to WABC's Saturday Night Oldies show with Mark Simone every Saturday night and on WKNY where they are playing the oldies every Saturday afternoon with Warren Lawrence including doo-wop in the late afternoon. This would bring some listeners from the former Cool 92.9. Let's hope that doo-wop will be staying on WKNY throughout a Saturday afternoon.

If your are in the Catskill area, tune in to WZCR's "Cruisin' 93.5". They'll still playing the oldies. I hope "Cruisin' 93.5" should be a winner after the demise of WBPM's "Cool 92.9". I can't get WZCR into Kingston, because it was swallowed by WBWZ's "Star 93.3" where it's probably 2 kw towards 93.5, but I can't hear Tony Flash on "Cruisin' 93.5". I love Tony Flash, because he is great.
