Cool (Dance Friendly CHR), in Africa

www.bayfm.co.za Not sure how much Dance they play during the Week, but ive been listening to this since last night, and its Dance MIXSHOW heavy on weekends, and seems to play about 2 or 3 Dance tracks an hour, in regular rotation. They also play some 80s and 90s Gold Titles as well. I didnt know Dance music was popular enough in Africa to get radio airplay, you would think, that they would mostly listen to Hip Hop, and African top 40, like the other African CHRs play. By the way, they speak English on this station, with British Accents

Duh! This is a station from South Africa Ask some of the world's leading DJs about South Africa, as almost all of them spin there. 5 FM, which can be heard all over South Africa, is definitely Dance friendly, as is Cape Town's Good Hope FM.

You just dont think of Africa as being a place to go clubbing and stuff, at least not the Africa you see on the Discovery channel, but it makes sense, since its right below Europe. Right now the DJs are speaking French on Bay Fm, but I swear, that earlier they were speaking english. That Kiss 100 in Kenya is the other CHR I was talking about, they sound like a U.S Rhythmic Chr, with african music mixed in, they dont play much, if any dance music on their, Im going to have to check out the other Dance friendly stations listed.

I'm guessing you're not very familiar with South Africa (the country) and it's past? 20 percent of the population there is white, and up until the mid 90s blacks were treated as second class citizens under the apartheid system. It wasn't really until Nelson Mandella took office that equal rights were given to all. South africa's biggest problem these days is crime, and especially homicide.
