Cool Edit Pro

Hi....just wanting to know if anyone is familiar with the program cool edit pro.
I'm trying to create some drops using the program. When I record my voice...it seems as though I can't get the vocals to sound that good. I'm wanting to know if there is a particular mic that would improve the quality and/or any settings on the program that would help.

Thanks....Stan

It's not just the mic. There are other factors like the acoustics
where you are recording as well as what pre-amp you may or may not
be using. A decent inexpensive mic would be something like a
Shure SM58 or even an SM57. I would avoid any Electrovoice mics.
They're not as good now that Telex makes them. A good condenser
mic would be an AKG C3000B, however you'll need phantom power for it.
If bucks are no problem you could step up to a Shure SM7B or even a
Neumann... As for settings, I don't know of any that will improve
it much. There are eq setting within the program, but you need to
have good sound starting at the source and that starts with the mic
and pre-amp or processor like a Symetrix-528E. Good luck.
Edited by calguy on 03/13/06 01:51 AM.
