The Monkees at the Veteran's Memorial Coliseum (it was brand new) Jan 1967.
I understand that KRUX was the big dog in town?

Nice suit..plenty of fabric to make another one! The Mad House on McDowell still serves as a concert venue for the Az State Fair every October. KRUX is now KPXQ with 50kw of pulpit pow-pow-power.

The final episode of Season 1of the show, "Monkees On Tour", which aired in May 1967, was a non-scripted episode that consisted of footage shot before, during, and after the Monkees' January '67 Phoenix show. A visit to KRUX was included in the footage. Sorry, do not remember who at KRUX was interviewing them.

"...Mister Del Webb was listening in Paris and ..."
I remember this show on 13-60 KRUX...
The competition between KRUX & KRIZ 1230 made for some fantastic popular radio for the
Phoenix area. At the time, we would have no idea we could listen to the 1967 Monkees taking over Bob Shannon's
show, again in 2021. Wonder how many other recordings people have of KRUX & KRIZ to share on YouTube?
