The National Journal is reporting that it's very possible that the FCC will be down to 3 Commissioners by the end of the year. That's because Democrat Michael Copps' term ends at that time. Actually, Copps' term ended last year, but he's allowed to stay on through the end of the current Congressional year. It seems the government is happy to coast without a full panel, because they've been down to four Commissioners all year, with no appointment made. That's one way to deal with a budget deficite. Anyway, it's obvious that the government doesn't view the FCC as particularly important, but this really drives the point home.
