Corm and the Coach...you blew it!

Poorly designed website? No surprise that somebody with two posts would say that. Have you seen it? It's one of the better ones in the market. It's topical, makes great use of social media, and features audio and video, which are critical components for the website of a RADIO STATION.

Lead story on the site today is from 11-30. Graphics are terrible, it is hard to navigate, and is simply a bargain basement template. A do it yourself in your basement model. The social media stuff is good I will give you that, but the fact they are using the free world press service is cheesey. Do you think WOKO would use Godaddy's Website Tonight? With all the great designers in town you would think someone would have done a trade with them.

Very true, Lester. Burlington is full of old goats who know nothing about the Internet. I used to work on updating the X website...Ben Hamilton once told me "white is no good...it's low-rent."

You mean like that site that makes billions of dollars and changed advertising and search engines forever? Yeah, they blow.

Well I suppose that's true, depending on the context. If all you have is solid colors, it's a bit boring. Likewise if you have too much "dead space"... margins with nothing in them for an image that's supposed to portray excitement, that's unsat. [unsatisfactory]

If he simply meant "the color white should never be used," then I could see why you might think him not well-versed in "webology". (Yeah I made it up, so sue me!) :p

LOL!

The only thing Ben Hamilton ever knew was what Paul Goldman or some 12-year old girl on the request line ever told him.

Exactly. Looking back, it amazes me how well he's perpetuated his job by knowing and doing little to nothing. That's a magic act that makes David Copperfield look like somebody at a kid's birthday party.

I don't agree with you guys at all. Ben is a radio geek who loves the biz and he has kept Triple X competitive in this market for years. The station ALWAYS sounds consistent and the talent is good. People stay there quite a while so he must not be that awful to work with. I think he's always gotten a bad rap by people who are jealous that he has produced a winning product over a long period of time. He might be tough to deal with at times but that's because he gives a damn about his radio station. I think he gets alot of undeserved crticism on thsi board and not much deserved praise for how well he has done his job.

Mebbe.

Or, he's a guy who is in a market so small that he has no formatic competition of note, and thus he's going to win his target audience every time, regardless of whether he's great/good/mediocre/terrible....simply because that audience doesn't have any other choices of that ilk on the dial.

Both of you envying Ben to the degree you have to cut him down like that is rather ugly.

Envy?

Yeah, that's what it is. I'd like to take an 80% pay cut from my current job so I could have his "success"...

Envy? I have no problems. I eat. I like my job. I have good friends. Just calling a spade a spade.

I worked for him. Did you?

Let see, it's envy if you cut down Hamilton, but it's OK to attack Cormier. Professor, you have lost all your credibility, especially if you think Hamilton is one of the good guys.

I don't know Ben well so i don't know if he's a good guy or not. The programming facts are that his station has stayed pretty much top 3 in the ratings all the while he's been there. That's something you can't argue with. Champ was built up to a 14 share under the original owners and Cormier took it down to a 2.7 share under his leadership and the morning show fell to 7th or 8th place. You can't compare the two. Ben has been successful and Cormier wasn't. Plain and simple. It's you guys who are judging the people by their personality and not their radio talent.

He's thoughtful and insightful on a personal level when he wants to be.

Yes, and for that, people like Mike Czarny, Pete Belair and Jag deserve credit for their hard work, as well as the employees of the major market industry leaders from which they draw guidance.

Arbitron = tits on a bull. Get back to me with their revenue figures.

They both eat.

It's you guys who are judging the people by their personality and not their radio talent.

And?
