Corm & the Coach gonzo!

Apparently C & C's return the Burlington airwaves is over. The duo is out and haven't been on the air all this week at WNMR. The entire station is very disjointed and hasn't made an impact in the market at all. The train has left the station for C & C and maybe it's time to gracefully bow out??

Out? Huh, the website indicates otherwise.

As for not being on the air all week, are you familiar with the concept of "vacation?"

The website is wrong. If you knew anything about this station or ever listened to it you would understand that's the norm. This is a station that has had dead air every day this week for 20 minutes at 12:05pm. C & C are out and they have told people that themselves.

Just saw on my Facebook feed...guess you're the first person to ever sign up for this place and make a worthwhile first post.

That station is a Mickey Mouse operation run by people (namely Loper) who have a track record of being involved in media ventures that have failed time and time again.

Corm and The Coach

A post on their Facebook page says they have done their last show on WNMR. They thanks their client base and claim they hadn't been paid since November.

I would love to be financially well off enough to work and not be paid for 4+ months.

Or maybe they're just chumps, I dunno.

You look pretty silly with kneejerk reactions like this, Will...

Not trying to be a smart-ass here but it does beg the question. If the show is as popular as some people have professed...why wouldn't they have had enough ad revenue to cover the costs of the show?

Popular is no match for static, jamming from WORK at the market's busiest intersection, too much existing competition, and no streaming.

If WOKO was on 107.1 it would be a failure too.

Lousy sales staff?

After all, we all know that great radio sales people can sell sh*t, but sh*tty radio sales people can't sell gold.

I hadn't thought about those factors, but Will's analysis strikes me as even better than mine.

You know what's truly amazing to me? The fact that not a single Burlington morning show appears to have any on-demand audio anywhere on their websites. These are supposedly the most on-demand personalities on the station...and yet, I can't hear them anytime I want. I can't share a video or audio file of Mike and Chantal with a friend from today's show because it doesn't exist on the Internet. All it takes to make a YouTube video is a camera and a mic, and I know a radio station has at least one of those things.

Corm and the Coach will be fine. Heritage Ford will be happier to hear "your commercial will be heard by everybody who watches us on YouTube or downloads our podcast" than to hear "nobody in Chittenden County heard your commercial because they can't receive 107.1."

I do think that the signal wasn't a big help but I do know some of the players on the sales side and they did have some decent sellers. From what i have heard they sold sponsors at dirt cheap and those kind of rates will never pay the bills. I also happen to believe that the C & C time frame has run it's course. The show is essentially the same as it was 15 years ago and it's just not going to be a front-runner anymore. I remember in 2007 and 2008 the show was #7 or 8 in morning drive when on Champ with persons 25-54...and barely top 5 in the 25-54 male target demo. I think the failure was a combination of the weak signal, poor sales performance and a product that isn't that viable in the market anymore.
