Corner Gas

Maybe not "classic" TV, however, Corner Gas was a classic. Do you think it will get picked up somewhere?

Dunno, but I can tell you I just "friended" them on Facebook. Great show. Very, very subtle. Most episodes are on Youtube. Most be some reason why it's not shown in the States anywhere.

It was shown on WGN America a few years ago between 2007 and 2009, but no other channel has aired it in the States since then. It would be a great fit for TV Land, Nick at Nite, TBS, or especially MeTV, THiS, or Antenna TV. I would suggest Comedy Central or IFC, but those two channels may not consider the show edgy enough for their schedules. USA also would be a good option since they recently picked up "Modern Family" reruns and are developing original sitcoms as well as picking up sitcom rerun rights.

Last year I visited the town of Dog River. Well, not actually :D My cousin and I took a road trip from Saskatoon (via Regina) to Rouleau Saskatchewan, where the show was filmed. Corner Gas and The Ruby are still there and act as a museum The store is a gift shop, while the Ruby is just a shell, but some of the booths are there for people to have their picture taken and look at the leaflets on the bulletin board . The Grain Elevator still says Dog River. It's still popular as the guest book testifies. It's worth a visit if you are a fan. The town is small, but you can see the outside of Oscar and Emma's house, and there is a small diner(not unlike The Ruby) where you can have lunch.

I've thought that PBS stations that carry The Red Green Show could pick up Corner Gas as well and run them together. But is it even bring offered by the show's production company to the US market?

Unfortunately Red Green is no longer available from WLJT in Lexington/Jackson, TN and I seriously doubt that they would pick up Corner Gas either even if it was available.  :-\
