Recently, I've noticed that this network is broadcasting on Ch. 46...I get fairly decent reception in Queens, but I haven't caught a callsign for the station and the network's website does not list any local affiliates on Ch. 46.

The station/network pretty much runs religious programming all day (just what we needed on the dial).

Stupid question, but what is the incentive to have these low power stations on?<P ID="signature">______________

I have a small battery-operated CrystalVision hand-held set that I
hadn't used in awhile so I decided to try and pick up the channel-
and lo and behold! I got something that resembled a Christian
Interview show, followed by the Cornerstone ID, and then an
exercise show. I never did see any local ID.
 
I don't know what the rules for IDing LPTV Stations are, but here in Hartford I never see a legal ID on the LPTV Telemundo affiliate. What they do show is not a legal ID. It will say T-13 Hartford/T-65 Springfield. (Now T-50 Hartford). The Legal ID Should Show T-50 WRDM-LP Hartford/T-65 WDMR-LP Springfield. This station has signifigant cable coverage.

The Low-Power Azteca America Station in Hartford, which I believe does not have any "studio" or employees and operates from their tower site on Avon Mountain has their Legal ID on the Screen All The Time. It says WHCT TV 38 Hartford, CT. (It really should be WHCT-LP TV 38 Hartford, CT). This station is not connected to the former WHCT Channel 18 in Hartford, which is now Univision affilaite WUVN. This station is not on cable. And as of late they've lost the feed of Azteca America and just have a blanked out screen with the WHCT TV 38 Hartford, CT in the corner of the screen.

Money.

For home shopping and religious networks... the networks will pay lptv owners to air their programming. (Some lptv station can make $5,000 to $30,000 a month or more depending on market size)

With networks like "America One", local stations don't get paid but get time to insert local commericals.

The over the air viewers count for 10% to 25% of the viewership in most markets. Some markets like Fresno or Boise it nears 50%.

If a station hits 1,000,000 people and 10% to 25% don't have cable or satellite thats 100,000 to 250,000 potential viewers.

Out of raw curiosity, is there a list of markets and their cable penetrations? I'd really like to know which markets have lots of OTA viewers.
