I always thought the meddling, overly-sensitive, soft-headed, egocentric nature of the corporate mentality was specific to Broadcasting, or at least Radio. I was wrong. Get a load of this: Go to the Yahoo page and play the video on the guy in Iowa who got fired for posting a Dilbert comic. Are you kidding me?
 
Yeah, but I never thought Dilbert was very funny or even mildly amusing. Perhaps this joker should be fired! Probably the only comic worse than Dilbert is The Family Circus.
 
Thanx for staying on point. lol. If management's feelings are so easily hurt but a cartoon clipping, management should be fired. Personally, the only people I've ever encountered who didn't like Dilbert were management drones with easily hurt feelings. The funny thing is, every manager I've seen that surrounded themselves with placating toadies sooner or later found the toadie's knife in their back. They never learn. Funny as H to watch though.
 
Its 2008. We have been taught that everyone not like us is evil beyond words and that anything said or implied about us that is not glowing is slanderous and must be attacked at all costs. Now add into the equation people with tons of money, zero sense of humor and a sense of entitlement that is right off the charts and you have this kind of madness. Radio was just the first symptom, now the contagion has spread to every corner of corporate America. There must be a B-School course called "How to Be A Jerk."
 
Some schools give that as a required course, others as an admission requirement. But it's often magnified in radio and television because we talk about it in public and with great energy.
 
You don't have to talk about anything in public in order for the game to be played. Internal issues go sour with the same frequency. Snafu said it best: add into the equation people with tons of money, zero sense of humor and a sense of entitlement that is right off the charts and you have this kind of madness. And as soon as some middle management toadie surrenders to the system and learns how to play the game, everyone's a victim. A good parent breaks a child when they're very young of the run-and-tell habit. The ones who never learned, it seems, go into radio. Run-and-tell is the most effective way to exploit the soft egos of upper management. Step one, step two.
