Is it true? Kent Cooper AND wife, Lisa, were fired from Tejas Broadcasting? If so, one can only say it's karma, Kent - you reap what you sow!! ;)
 
Yes it is. The nightmare for the company is over. He tried to take on K99 and spent all his concentration on it with KOUL and didn't deliver. In the mean time he made the station group an afterthought with the market. The Beach is beached, KLHB was never given the guidance it needed to improve on ratings.(He hired the wrong PD) and he just wasn't the right guy for the job. He got rid of many things the station was getting recognized for and it didn't help that the owners kept him on for as long as they did. His replacement is another retread that has worked for the owners in previous companies they have owned and he is not much better. It is a shame because they had some very talented people in a variety of areas (Programming, sales, etc) and under Kent many left. Ultimately its the ownerships fault for bringing in the wrong guy and they confirm their practice of doing this again with the new manager.
 
The owners don't realize - or don't care - what a disservice they do to their employees and to the community when they hire a moronic, egomaniacal, napolean like Kent Cooper. Kent will be paying BIG time in his next life! ;D
 
You are soooo right! And, unfortunately, Kent - like a cockroach - will always find his way into a company and infect it...
 
As of last Thursday, Kent is now at Convergent Broadcasting (Planet 102.3 FM, Classic Rock 104.5 FM, and Star 107.3 FM).

I'm wondering how Kent will eat that big "CROW SANDWICH". Does anyone remember his Clear Channel babble about 14,000 watt stations from far away? Now that bad station is YOURS.

Has it changed, Kent, or have you just choked down a giant Crap burger? :)

CONVERGENT BROADCASTING....Wow...this is wierd. I just read an article that John Hyatt was replacing a gal named Dallas Stevens in the GM slot at Convergent and that article was from April 2009. He did not even make one year?

I think Kent may already be feeling the charma if this is his new gig.

Is it just me or was Pacific always a little wierd anyways? I have been in that building several times over the years and the people there were just wierd...Hooka smokin kinda wierd. I know it is Corpus, but the vibe was def not Texas at all.

If the KOUL folks were smart they would look into hiring Jim Prewitt as OM he is the last major PD mind to ever run KOUL and he is doing afternoons in Sacramento for Entercom. He was born and bred in Corpus, loves the market, the music and always takes his stations up! Plus...I hear he and Kent love to tangle it out on the air.

Does John Hyatt have anything to do with the new rumored top 40 in Corpus that cropped up on allaccess recently?
Someone is putting on a new top 40. Wow Corpus Radio is really wierd...I have heard all kinds of wierd stuff about da bomb and Z and Pacific/convergent...

What happened?

Does anyone know where Scott Dewalt son of KLTG former owner is now? What about Steve? I know folks who would and could come in and own the market in days...Program wise. Z still has a hold on ad dollars...that would be the harder thing. But not that hard.

I even miss Bill York now. Love ya Bill.

I heard there were "issues" with Hiyatt and hiring famnily members, but it's all heresay.

I(t will be humerous to see how Kent Cooper defends the signals of the Convergent properties. He is on the record trashing them as out of market and under powered. Everything comes around I guess. All the best to Kent. God only knows Convergent could use some help. Maybe he's it.

ON another front, is Tejas really moving and getting evicted from Antelope and if so, will Jay Harpol kill the 103.7 signal Friday as it appears he can by taking back the tower?

I hear Tejas hired Russell Vaughn to be their Chief Engineer. Let's just hope he signed a multi year contract with them. He was doing engineering for them on a contract basis and now that they are taking on this big move they put him on payroll? Sounds like they didn't want to get hit with a big ass engineering bill. If he didn't sign a contract, I hope he doesn't get canned a few months after the move. That would suck. Reminds me of another radio owner that did something similar here in Corpus a few years back.

I wonder how they are going to set up all their STL links at the new location? I heard they wanted to move the current self support tower located on the property to their new location but I would think that tower belongs to Jay Harpole also. ??

Sad....I remember broadcasting and watching the cars roll by out the studio window on Antelope.

I wish Tejas was into CHR or something close. I also have an adult format that targets women with rock and 80's and more...
