Corpus Christi Area - Unlit, abandoned Three-Stick AM Array NOTAM needed

Where do you come up with these totally random ideas you spout of? Even as just a guesstimate, thats a pretty serious accusation you dont just lob around with zero proof and an insult to journalists
Oh, SRG. Don't you know that while screen names may change, what the individual behind it brings to the table never does?

You surprise me, Paul. KUKA-FM1 is clearly not a translator but an on-channel booster. The call sign alone evidences that.

Look at the KUKA license on radio locator and fccinfo.com and their Facebook page, it mentions a 103.3 .. and that is in fact a translator.

I've worked for a station with an on channel booster before

Ummm ... here's the FCCInfo.com page for KUKA. I don't see a translator.

K277BL, the translator listed on the *cough* highly questionable, accuracy-wise *cough* Radio-Locator, is a translator for KOUL Agua Dulce:

Their Facebook for Retro Country lists a 103.3

What 103.3 is in Corpus Christi?
K277BL

Anyone can put anything they want on their Facebook page.

I will give higher credibility to FCC records.

so theyre going to continually advertise a frequency they arent on in their facebook page title?

theyre going to run liners that say "retro country 105.9 & 103.3" for a frequency they arent on and mention 103,3 in the top of hour ID??

KOUL's facebook page hasnt been up dated in 10 months and it would appear Fuego KOUL is connected to Retro Country/Retro 94.7 and Retro Tejano.. so switching a translator around is prob. pretty easy.

I don't know, Paul. They never asked my advice.

But I do not accept at face value what is posted on Facebook.

Technically, yes. Very much so. But there is still a requirement for translators to give notice to the FCC if their originating station changes, and the records for K227BL have not been updated in that respect since 2021. If they are now simulcasting a different station they need to update their records once LMS is back online.

We're not getting anywhere with this circular discussion. If you have contacts you can use to get some facts, I wholeheartedly support your using them.

I know some posters here enjoy being contentious for the sake of being contentious, but for the sake of clarity here: the Retro Country 105.9/103.3 page isn't some random fan creation. It's the station's official page, blue checkmark and all, and it's absolutely full of photos showing both frequencies on billboards, tents at remotes, and various promotions going back months.

It is not uncommon, unfortunately, for stations to fail to promptly notify the FCC when they switch translator primary stations. But there's really no reason to question what's on 103.3 right now in Corpus.

Why yes, yes they have a translator.

Am stations operating at night when they shouldnt or with higher power then licensed at night is nothing new...... AM stations operating with day power at night is nothing new. Operating with double the power by day? Now that I doubt.
If a daytime AM station is operating at night at the wrong power, be a good person and contact the station. 99.9% of the time it's a misprogramed controler. You are doing the operater a favor because most likely there is no revenue being generated and they are paying "extra" money to the power company. I don't think there is enough money on the AM band to make anything nefarious worth doing.
