Corpus Christi Ratings

I hear that the KOUL crew of Kent Cooper is lagging in 3rd place in the Country formats. 3rd behind KFTX which uses no rhyme or reason when it comes to programming music......I am impressed. They will not beat K99. They may eventually surpass FTX but that is not a real acheivement.

it continues to be emargoed because no-one challenges Arbitron to lift it. As long as no-one cares, it will continue to be embargoed. Kent is gonna have to get rid of Big D and Bubba. Nice guys but a terrible alternative to live radio.

Does anyone familiar with KLTG-FM know where the highly talented afternoon personality Keev is these days? I was a big fan of his show, but haven't had any success finding him since his departure.

In regards to KEEV. He is retired and living in Port Aransas....lterally "on the beach".
My guess is that he will be back in radio in a different market later this year.

I have been hearing that KFTX beat KOUL in the ratings and that Kent cooper was having a hissy fit. Its interesting how time changes and people react the same. Clear Channel beats him and even KFTX under his leadership......very amusing.

I Would call it wanting to compete, not a hissy fit. I worked for kent and he's a fair, just and treats everyone with respect. A radio icon. With his OM and PD's at the station they will continue to rise to the top.

As of this Monday, Big D & Bubba are off of KOUL. They have been replaced by Clayton Allen and Charlie McKay, formerly #1 in Corpus on K-99. The rest of the day, until midnight, is live and local. For the first time in over 3 years, KOUL is at 100% power at 1000 feet. For those of you who like to second guess me, this has all been in the works since I arrived 2 years ago. There was no use in doing too much until we had the tower problems analyzed and repaired correctly ( to the tune of 6 figures $$$$$).
A "hissy fit"....no. With syndication in the morning and at 20% power at 300 feet, I did not expect much. But now........
Also, K-99 is still a great radio station. I don't expect to knock them off in the near future. KFTX? Your guess is as good as mine.
By the way, the new morning show on the Beach did fantastic. Lots of promotion and great music. Chris Roberts has stepped up as PD under Ops Mgr Clayton Allen.
Arbitron is embargoed here because of a non-subscriber. Arbitron won't budge on it.
Kent Cooper

I would guess the non-subscriber is either Malkan or whoever owns KFTX. Speaking of Malkan, are they ever going to start streaming? I like K-Bay's unique rhythmic AC format and wish they'd put it online.
