Corpus Christi Ratings.

Well the Corpus Christi book is out.

Not having access to the whole data set, let me opine.

It LOOKS like it was fairly much a "Spanish" book.
Good for men as well

KSAB #1.
KUNO up 100%.
KNCN up 50%.
KKTX Up 50%
KZFM retains share, but drops in the ranker.
KYRK "The Shark drops 10% as they wander through a plethora of tweaks, slogans, and ideas during the book. It just didn't seem like they were ready. Weird.

Conspicuous by their absence is KEYS. A Malkan property which SHOULD be listed. Or can you only buy a part of a cluster. Otherwise, how did they not get listed. They CAN'T have gotten less than a .1 can they?

Anyone???

Bueller???

I just checked out The Shark's Facebook page and it seems as if they have revamped their logo and are now using the moniker "Variety That Rocks!" But you are right. I have no idea what's going on over there. Every time I tune in and listen they are playing a different format. It's almost like spin the wheel today and see what it lands on. lol One day I'm hearing Modern English another day is Foreigner, then it's The Cult followed by INXS, then Depeche Mode. I actually heard Metallica the other day. I was surprised to hear that now on the Shark. By the new moniker I'm guessing they are now going to be a Rock only station now. (Or until a listener asks for them to play some Cyndi Lauper lol...seems they play what people on the Facebook page request). If the format confuses me I am sure it confuses and drives away most of their potential listeners. They need to pick one genre and just stick to that. In a world of social media and with everyone and their grandmother being on Facebook nowadays their fan page is a sure indication that they don't have many fans or listeners. They only have 1226 likes. In fact there is a recent post where they are practically begging for likes. They've been on Facebook since May 18, 2011 and have only racked up 1226 likes?? I'm sure a big chunk of that is friends and family. They are asking fans if they should have DJ's. Why would they even have to ask their listeners that? Wow! Of course they should have some soft of live human presence. I'm not saying they have to blow their whole budget and have a jock there 24 hours a day but a good local morning show, an interactive midday show and either a voice tracked or live jock from 6-10PM would really help. Listeners have iPod's or CD's with MP3's on them that sound way better then 106.5 Don't be a 50,000 watt iPod for listeners. If you want to compete with the big boys you have to give listeners something more then automated music with drops and commercials mixed in. They want to call in and interact. They want to be entertained (hence why 2 Guys in the Morning on C-101 has always had high ratings).

Hi.

KEYS was not listed in this book (either was KSIX) because neither station reached minumum reporting requirements in the reporting period. And, no, you can't just purchase part of a cluster.

Although The Shark dropped in 12+, we showed nice growth in our demo.

We are solid Top 5 station in men 25-44, 25-49 during the week. Weekends were lacking for some odd reason-- very small sample size I'm sure contributed to this. But there's no question we have some work do on the weekends. We also lost a huge 18-24 spike we got last time around.

Our TSL is #4 in the market P25-54 and #1 Men 25-54 with no kisses. We have a lot work to do to get our cume up-- but that's much easier to fix than TSL. So, over-all, we're fairly pleased. We've been consistent in our music strategy ( a variety of rock genres blended together) for 6-8 months and have evolved our positioner over time to where it reflects what we're hearing back from our listeners.

We've got a lot of room to grow, improve, and expand. But, give us credit-- one very small company, doing reasonably well. With a nice base of local advertisers who are very happy with us.

Corpus Christi Message boards. You gotta love it. Forgive me if I ruffled your feathers. That was not my intent. I think, all things considered, you folks are trying to do what must be done. As a station with more local humanity than KMXR, you've done a nice job. I am NOT a "Shark listener", but in my limited "Look ins" throughout the book, I felt I was accurate. I also hang out with a guy who is on and off a Shark P1. While I judged for myself, I felt comfy posting it, as he agreed. Of course I might be wrong. :)

I would point out that if you get 1 out of ten to like you, you're a big winner.

I was surprised to learn the KEYS and KSIX both got ZEROS! Both of these stations tend to hang in the +/- "2" range. (12+) Apparently FM has done NOTHING for KSIX. (And they're hogging up the rest of the FM dial.) Or maybe running Political talk in the mornings and then sports the other 21 hours a day, at KSIX, may just a bad idea. (Mensas over there)...And the KEYS move to Sports seems to be a disaster as well.

Still, I'm surprised and more like unconvinced. I'm assuming that KEYS and KSIX are the only stations with zero this book, based on your post. Based on the technical issues with KCCT and the shaky signal with KDAE, It's a weird book. I can't EVER recall KDAE beating KEYS.

I have said for years that Arbitron is Junk. I'm still inclined to believe that.

I DO agree with you about advertisers and results. Those that have none are doomed.

As for Infamous, I can't say. I'm NOT a C-101 guy either. Weird, WEIRD book this time. And while he cracks on facebook, I'd have to actually use it to give a damn. Rock On (Or whatever)

Didn't ruffle my feathers at all. I enjoy the discussions and it's always good to get outside feedback for a fresh perspective. We've made what I think have been necessary adjustments. And feel we've settled in to the right mix over the last 6-8 months. Now we just need to get the cume up. It's a whole different ballgame when its all your money and you're taking all the risk--sometimes things that you wish you could do--you just can't.

Re: KEYS and KSIX. You can have 0.0 quarter hour shares with Arbitron's minimum amount of required reported quarter hours. If you don't have the minimum amount of reported quarter hours required--you won't get listed anywhere. These two stations over the last couple years have been in the .3 to 1.0 12+ AQH share range.
