Corpus Christi Sports radio changes

interesting news in the sparkling city. The following are the changes/rumors/thoughts...

ESPN 1440 KEYS changes from ESPN to Fox Sports (Confirmed)

Sportsradio Corpus Christi, KSIX 1230, 103.3 and 96.1 loses Dan Patrick to 1440 as part of the FSR affiliation. (Coonfirmed)

ESPN will relocate to 105.5 FM on the Tejas KLHB. (Almost certain)

On air, KEYS is still referring to themselves as "ESPN 1440".

Rumor has it Tejas (KLHB 105.5) got ESPN to cancel Malkan (KEYS 1440) as Tejas has a couple of other ESPN stations. (commentary follows) I guess KEYS is just setting them selves up for another crash and burn when I Heart decides to flip regional mexican graveyarder 1400 KUNO to sports under Fox Sports. They'll takre it back and KEYS can go Yahoo!. Maybe they can bring back "The Rig" if they get a translator.

"ESPN 1440 is now apparently stunting a flip to news/talk."

You are correct. While they apparently pledged to FSR to change to Fox sports, they in fact ARE going political. Rumor has it they are joining up with Bob Jones again. Bob is a proven commodity. He has gotten his ass kicked numerous times by numerous hosts in the market. I know for a fact that Direct TV cancelled Dan Patrick on 1230. It will be interesting if that cancellation holds true. Look for ESPN on FM 105.5 KLHB Sept 1st.

From RadioInsight:
"1440 KEYS will debut its new Talk format on Friday, August 28.
The new lineup will include the return of Bob Jones to the station for mornings. Jones previously worked at KEYS during its previous Talk run until exiting in 2009. The local Sports talk show “The Benchwarmers” will remain with the station with the rest of the lineup featuring syndicated talkers First Light with Evan Haning, Laura Ingraham, Dave Ramsey, Michael Savage, Alex Jones, and Red Eye Radio.
Meanwhile, Tejas Broadcasting will make the flip of Spanish AC “Exitos 105.5” KLHB Portland to Sports “105.5 ESPN” on Tuesday, September 1."

I knew it would have Alex Jones! LMFAO
