Cosby Show and Roseanne on Netflix on Demand

I noticed not too long ago, all the 'Cosby Show' and 'Roseanne' episodes were made available on Netflix On Demand. ;D

While Netflix had shows like 'The Munsters' and 'Charles in Charge', more popular classic shows (of shows where people might actually buy the DVDs) weren't there.

I also got Roku which has Crackle and Crackle has full episodes of some other shows, like "227" and "What's Happening". Hulu Plus offers the 1st season of WKRP, and some others. So, is this the foreseeable trend? Will one system specialize in classic TV, (maybe Crackle) or will it be Netflix?

Will 'I Love Lucy', 'I Dream of Jeannie', 'Bewitched', 'Family Ties', 'Three's Company' get on their way to an On Demand system? I originally thought that DVD sales would be impacted or syndication value, but with Cosby and Roseanne, what is stopping the rest.

What about shows that had a lot of episodes and a great run, but didn't do well in syndication or DVD sales, such as 'Murphy Brown', 'Mad About You', or 'Gimme a Break'. So far, it seems only what has been released via DVD has a chance for going to On Demand.

Since On Demand is easier to distribute content and very much unlike DVD sales, could more classic TV be delivered/available through an On Demand library, than what's available via DVD release? Thoughts

They also have:

X Files
Family Guy
American Dad
Futurama
3rd Rock from the Sun
Weeds
The Office (UK and US)
Scrubs
Archer
Jersey Shore
That 70's Show
Arrested Development
Lost
Chapelle Show
and hundreds more

While I'm sure it affects DVD sales, I think this is the new model for classic and rerun TV. As space becomes a premium, and more and more people don't see the value in ownership, I think this trend will only continue. Plus, it most likely targets the people who weren't likely to buy the DVD anyways. While I'd love to check out old TV shows, there are only a few that I would see the value in OWNING. Also, Netflix deals do expire, so these aren't permanent like a DVD purchase would be.

Since we got Netflix on our Wii I've found Fawlty Towers, Monty Python, and The Dick Van Dyke Show on Netflix online. On the other hand MASH, Cheers, Newhart (80's), WKRP, and The Red Green Show are DVD only. I'm still in the process of seeing what's available. Between my daughter using it more often and my work schedule I haven't been able to explore it as much as I want. I'd definitely like to see a link to a website that shows what TV shows are available on Netflix online if anyone has one.

I've read where Netflix plans eventually go to having all their movies and TV shows online, but as long as some production companies, networks, and distributors oppose it I can't see that happening totally, just like some movies become available later on Netflix vs. on DVD.

Unless they restore the original music, I'd stay far, far away from WKRP on DVD.

Odd enough, isn't WKRP available on VHS with the original music?
