Could 106.7 Lite FM Add More Oldies?

This was suggested by I believe Diamond Joe. Does anyone think Lite FM will add a few more oldies to the playlist? It may be smart to do that because Lite FM is as close to CBS FM than any other New York station, since Lite plays lots of 70s music. This may also not be a good idea, because it isn't a good idea to mess around with a number one station in a number one market with the highest billing. Any thoughts?
______________

It Is Indeed Possible...

I did indeed make this prediction in this thread further down. My feeling is that WLTW loves taking risks, and they barely lose with some of the tweaks they've done - adding more upbeat music, some country crossovers, heck, even the airstaff with the addition of Christine Nagy in the morning is seen by some as a gamble - but understand that just as we have witnessed a new phase in "the evolution of radio" this weekend, this is how WLTW evolves itself.

They might add "Twist and Shout"... "Summer Wind"... I wouldn't be surprised if I turned on 106.7 and heard the uptempo classic "Land of a Thousand Dances" by Wilson Pickett. Jim Ryan has a feel for the radio climate in this city, and it's no surprise if he responds to the latest change in New York radio.

And it would not shock me if jilted oldies listeners "did the Watusi" over to 106.7.

Maybe A Saturday-Night Oldies Show??

I doubt that WLTW-106.7 would add some 1960's oldies to it's playlist in the wake of WCBS-101.1 dropping the oldies format.

But maybe you could see WLTW do a once-a-week Saturday-night (7 P.M.-12 Midnight) personality-and-requests-driven oldies show hosted by one of the former CBS-FM personalities.
Edited by DiamondJoe on 06/06/05 03:14 AM.

Why not? They're already playing some classics from The Beatles, Marvin Gave, Spiral Staircase, etc. as it is.
______________

They might add a couple more oldies songs to the rotation, but I would not expect a significant change. Why? Because WLTW already pulls excellent numbers. Why fix what's not broken.

Call me nostalgic, but how awesome would the reincarnation of Musicradio WABC (FM) be on 95.5? Those heritage calls still resonate with Boomers in the tri-state area.

Funny you all say that.

On the Howard Stern show they played back a Cousin Brucie interview (of course Stern MOCKED Brucie and his "toupee") where he said that someone named Jim wanted him on his station.

Jim.....as in Jim Ryan of Lite FM?

Hmmmmm

But See, WLTW *Can* Take Risks...

That's the thing... Lite-FM doesn't mind taking risks. As long as there's no direct competition, they can continue to take some gambles with the playlist, and as long as they remain the top billing station in America, Jim Ryan's moves shall not be questioned.
______________
