Could 92.9 back off all-sports?

With the demise of Project 96.1, could CBS Radio back off of the idea to go all-sports and go either active rock at 92.9 or even a mix of Sports/Rock at that format to attract the male demographics? There's a lot of buzz out there with Project's plug being pulled & with their signal, can take full advantage of the situation!

They would if they were smart. CC just presented them a huge gift!

I'm still baffled by how DAVE has handled the transition. We see music stations flip formats overnight...but make announcement months before the transition? Makes me compare it to the old New Coke/Coke Classic bait and switch....or rebranding of The Gap.

It's easier to change a record than change staff.

CC doesn't seem to have a problem doing both at the same time in a few hours..... If DAVE is truly dead, put it out of its misery.

No way. CBS has been (most likely) planning this switch for months before the announcement and are fully committed to reinforcing their sports network. And part of this reinforcement includes putting sports talkers in all of their markets.

They announced it in advance just like AN106.7 because you can't do a format flip from music to local talk by running 9,600 songs commercial free. They are going in with two feet to ramp up their sports talk presense I am unaware of their national roll-out and efforts to ge the main player in active rock. IMHO sports talk has a longer shelf life than active rock. 99x also gave them a golden opportunity when they went away and where did it get them.

This. That is all.
