Could a "boom" hit atl airwaves?

Radio One just flipped HOT 107.9 Philadelphia from Urban Contemporary to Hot Urban AC (Old School Hip-Hop) and not too long ago same thing in Houston. With that being said, I wonder if the Urban Media Specialist have plans for the format being launched here. I remember hearing that 107.5’s signal was increased so would that leave 97.5 available for a separate format? They also have the 102.9 translator which simulcast PRAISE 102.5 but I’m sure they wouldn’t mess with that since it provides better coverage for the Eastside. It would be interesting to see if the format comes here with Steve Hegwood’s OLD SCHOOL 99.3/1010 increasing it’s Atlanta coverage jamming the Urban Oldies format.

Right now, the only purpose the 97.5 simulcast serves is getting Majic heard on I-85 in the Tyrone area, where 107-9 wipes out the 107.5 signal. At one time, I heard R1 was trying to sell 97.5, but they never did. The Old School Hip-Hop format might be a way to make that signal useful again.

I could see classic hip hop possibly working in Atlanta, but almost have my doubts that an additional non urban frequency could be used for this without hurting one of the already existing urban formats to some degree. But then again, not sure if anyone would take any of the existing urban formats and change them right now.
