Could A CHR Christian Format From Clear Channel Come To Atlanta?

Clear Channel seems to be making some head way in Greenville with the new Shine 96.7 . I think you are going to see something happen with a format change with 105.3 El Patron b.c. the ratings are low and it would be the best singal for the area. I think you will see a huge change in Radio coming up soon.

I, for one, would love to see how ClearChannel would train wreck a Christian CHR format.
God's mighty hand coming out of a cloud saying "pull my finger."
Potato cannons for Christ.....

Spudguns? Suave. We can have competing Trunk Fish on the barrels!

Incidentally, Spudtech is still for sale as far as I can tell. Wanna buy it?

Clear Channel has done very well with the Hallelujah formats scattered about in the South, but a Christian format would be much harder to pull off. They did put on a Christian station in Nashville in the late 90s, but it failed miserably.

Clear Channel has done well in the rating books for the Hallelujah formats in several southern markets like Jackson, Little Rock, Memphis and Montgomery. They usually do not do well in billing though and have exited Biloxi and Birmingham for that reason.

The Contemporary Christian music station Clear Channel owned in Nashville was actually launched by AMFM before merging with Clear Channel. The station did not fail miserably but rather CC found a big hole in the market for another Urban which they have taken advantage of to a pretty big success. Nashville has the popular WAY FM to serve the the Christian music needs in the market plus Salem has their satellite service on the radio dial as well.

It could happen.

How's this for a concept: a Christian "Active Rocker". They could have imaging like:

"J-rock 1053. Listen, or your going to Hell!"

"Non-believers sux, J-rock 1053"

"Rockin' for the Lord, J-rock 1053"

Let's hear it for the south! We lag behind in thinkun skeels. Love how this format is mainly down this a-way.

We've already got The Fish and enough loafs of bread. No mas Michael W. Smith por favor.
