Could a new urban be coming to Huntsville?

I saw a billboard today that said "The Beat is coming 1-20-17." That's all it said. Of course it could have absolutely nothing to do with radio, but it also sounds possible that a new urban type format could be coming to Huntsville. I wouldn't be surprised considering WEUP's terrible signal situation in Huntsville. Could 93.3 try urban again? Nash Icon's ratings are always in the toilet. That signal had its best ratings back when it was "Power 93.3," though the dial has changes significantly for urban audiences since those days. I've also been keeping my eye on the WAHR/WLOR situation. That's a possibility. If you're not familiar, the translator at 98.1 W251AC is currently still relaying WLOR 1550am, but on the FCC database it says it is relaying WAHR 99.1. WLOR was granted a new move in translator on 107.5 during the AM revitalization period that shows WLOR as its parent signal but it is not on the air yet. Sounds like Rocket City Broadcasting is planning to take WAHR HD with a subchannel relay on 98.1. WAHR is not currently in HD yet either though. All just speculation. I guess we'll see on the 20th. Anyone else heard anything about any of this?

Lol sorry bout that. Yea I could definitely see that but they won't get rid of the urban oldies/throwbacks they have now. Its doing pretty well. They'll move it to the new 107.5 translator & flank it with The Beat on 98.1 if that is in fact whats coming. No word on "Sunny 98.1" moving soon though so we'll see. They have however added RDS to 98.1. They did that a few weeks ago.

After the Steve Harvey Morning Show this morning, Sunny 98.1 began stunting with old TV show theme songs and instrumentals and announcing that "something big is coming at noon." I guess here comes "98.1 The Beat." My question is will it be current Hip Hop and R&B, or will it be throwback 90s and 2000s. The station has seemed to have been transitioning to a more 90s and 2000s feel over the has few months so its a possibility. The announcement voice was Ed Gains, the PD and mid-day host of Sunny 98.1. I'll be listening and will post an update at noon.

98.1 The Beat is now live at noon as promised with classic hip hop & r&b. I find it kind of ironic that they launched with Jay-Z Empire State of Mind, which I wouldn't consider classic hip hop since its only a few years old, but we'll see how it goes. The website is now live as well. 981thebeat.com.
