Could a rhythmic station work in the Capital District?

I've been to Albany recently and have noticed the amount of clubs and bars, especially on North Pearl. TONS of parties going on, the UAlbany crowd....

Having said that, could a rhythmic station playing CURRENT dance music, R&B, and the FUN aspect of hip-hop (not gangsta) work in the Capital District? I would think that for the cities and direct suburbs, it may be a possibility, though I don't see it working out in Schoharie or Eastern Rensselaer. Just asking....not forcing the issue.

Take a listen to Pulse 87 in NYC to get an idea of what I'm talking about...

I think it would but no one else does i guess :(

A station like KISS with only Smooth R&B (Not this garbage on 102.3 and 96.3 -- UTTER TRASH)

Well, I've just put up this thread today (March 25th) so we'll see if others respond. On the other thread regarding predictions, people in there are talking favorably about it so my take is that the region could be pretty receptive towards it.

Tony I really wish Albany NY had a Dance station on the dial. It is needed here. Something like the way KTU used to be with classic dance to today's dance hits would be great to hear.

Are their enough "inner city" people to support this format in market 63 .Any place where country gets double digit ratings I'd say no.

And that's where the trick would be. A dance station could not work in Schoharie, Columbia, Eastern Rensselaer, or anywhere else in the region where it is more rural/small town in nature. I would think Schenectady, Troy, Albany and suburban (Colonie, Latham, Delmar, etc.) a format like this can work. Which is why in this case a station that has a Class "A" signal within these areas would be optimum.

I would think you'd get inner city support. The college crowds certainly would back it up. Just don't need a strong powerful antenna.
