Could CBS could all talk?

I know they have 1030 but could they make 1030 all news 24/7 and put a talker on the FM to go after RKO? or swap the news to FM and make 1030 all talk? I know it's far fetched and this is a Gallant this post but they are the only ones who could challenge entercom. I dont see RKO being able to be the only game in town. CBS has a talker and a news station in Philly. They could do it here.

...they could simulcast the 8pm-5am talk shows as well. I don't think it's too far-fetched. Which signal gets the boot, though?

104.1 - maybe
103.3 - not likely with the recent launch of Amp
98.5 - Hell no
100.7 - not likely either.

I could see BZ running news till 11 or 12 with another CBS FM going all talk and pulling the BZ FM calls away from the Sports Hub.

CBS had a well run all-newser in Boston for many years...590 WEEI.
But that was then, this is now. With information immediately available to smartphones/websites etc, is an all-news station even relevant to potential listeners? Not to mention taking on WBZ would be very tough.

I don't think CBS really has a free property to make it work, but thinking about the 590 frequency... Salem certainly seems to be on the talk upswing with their new launches in South Carolina and Columbus. WTTT failed, and would fail again if Salem phoned it in and filled it with SRN talent. But it's a totally different world in the talk radio landscape than it was a year ago, and opportunity exists...

It could happen but I'm not sure if it would within the next few yrs given that WBZ AM has a powerful signal. Yes people are fleeing AM but the news/talk combo they have seems to do well stuck on 1030; and maybe if WBMX isn't cutting it they could try it there...either simulcast or move WBZ,
or have 104.1 go talk. In terms of ratings a simulcast would share what the AM/FM gets but it
also takes away a source of revenue (the Mix format) from CBS, too. Does CBS outright move
WBZ news-talk to FM, then what goes on the AM? Again it removes one revenue source to shore
up another. In WEEI's case it was very necessary, but would it work for CBS?

(WEEI AM's ratings are awful but the move of the main signal to FM was a must.)

I'll tell you how I now nothing's going to happen to Mix 104.1 any time soon, two words: Greg Strassell. As long as Greg is alive and working at CBS, he'll never let anyone, ANYONE, touch his baby. He has the power to keep it alive, and he has. He's also run every PD out of that building because he insists on micromanaging, and keeping the station the way it is... a real dog. Logic escapes him, but when you've got "SVP" after your title, you get to do that.

I'd be shocked if it flipped... however as I'm writing this about PD's, I'm remembering that they STILL haven't hired another PD for Mix, Salhany's driving up from Hartford to program it. That could be a sign that mix is beginning to lose the war.

who is mix going up against?? like the other stations we know the competition,But mix who is it everyone???
