You decide of which station to get rid of!

Is it 103-5 The Beat (urban)

or

Mega 94-9 (Hurban)

YOU DECIDE WHO WANTS TO BE "MIAMI'S OFFICIAL XMAS STATION"!!

The Beat's always had lower ratings as an urban...

Mega's still postin' lower ratings...AND LA KALLE WILL BEAT MEGA!

What would you say? Hot AC?? Adult Hits?! Stay tuned!
Edited by PassDutch on 09/11/05 09:21 PM.

Dump the Beat at Mount Trashmore. Especially their morning guys.

That's s stupid idea anyway.

That's how they snuck in the new format for WMIB to replace WMGE on 103.5 a few years ago.

I can see why retailers might want to play wall-to-wall Xmas music to get shoppers in the mood to spend money.

But anyone who would choose such a station to listen all day -- except for *maybe* a week before Xmas -- needs to get a life.

Really exploiting the season, aren't they?

So basically CC wants to do with Hurban what Entercom has done with the newsradio format in NYC... lock it up for total domination? I hate that mentality. Competition drives radio stations to become better than they are. What'sa matter, Cheap Channel? Too scurred to play?

Entercom has no NY News stations. Viacom has two news stations, ABC has a NT station.

Blocking WEDR is a good play. When you bring down a leader, it means you are dinging them, but, more than that, you bring up the relative position of your stations vs. competitors. This is a usual cluster strategy, and I have seen it done since the 60's.

Crap, I knew it was Viacom... they're CBS affiliates... my mistake. If I had slept last night, I probably would've been awake enough to catch that before I hit "Continue" :)

I know blocking WEDR is smart, but I also see the side of it that says "it's inevitable. We know we're that durn good, and we'll prove it. Then once we prove it, we'll further establish our dominance by providing the same product, good or not, on two different stations." Just because it's a usual strategy doesn't mean it's good for the listeners.

Clear Channel only has one hip hop station. How can you say they have the same product on two frequencies when they do not.

I'm saying if they flipped WMGE to hip-hop, then they would have two stations of the same format in South Florida.

Post 923 dedicated to 92.3 WPWX, Hammond, Indiana; a station that, when WCSR goes off the air, is easily heard in Hillsdale County, MI.
______________
