In less than a week, Cox has launched X107.3 in Orlando, and X107.1 in Atlanta. Both are considered Alternative stations, or possibly adopting an "Alt-40" format focusing on bands such as Imagine Dragons, Lorde, Avicii, Mumford and Sons, The Black Keys, Awolnation, Muse, Fitz and the Tantrums, Arctic Monkeys, among several other indie/alternative rock bands. The format claims that it's time for the "Alt Revolution." This leads to this question:
Is San Antonio ready for an Alternative format? If so, should Cox re-launch X106.7 as Alternative? Seriously, I'm sick of hearing the same boring hair bands and those stupid 10 year old rock bands that 99.5 Kiss keeps playing (like it's still freaking 2002!) and we consider these as our rock stations. I know we have stations like KSYM and Indie 91.7 and they're like the closest we have to a full-time alternative station but I think it's time for San Antonio to have this format.
