Could Dennis Miller replace Imus on CBS/Westwood?

A two week suspension is a long time to let the people who want Imus off the air to have their say. I wouldn't be surprised if, by the end of the suspension, CBS decides to pull the plug.
This would be yet another huge blow to CBS Radio. First they lose Stern, then Imus. Would they learn from their mistakes in how they tried to fill Stern's shoes? Who would they pick?
Dennis Miller seems like a strong possibility. He's got name recognition. He's already at CBS/Westwood. He's hosting a daily, three-hour radio talk show. He has a sense of humor. He can land big name interviews.
What does anyone else think?

Miller already has his own show on Westwood One, but I don't believe that he can pull in the numbers that Imus did.

Should CBS decide to fire Imus, this would be a golden opportunity for affiliates to seek out local talent for their morning programs.

I think that Miller would be a good option, if not for the daypart.

I cannot see DM doing the morning drive slot...And I dont think he could pull in the DC crowd. He gets alot of 'pop culture' interviews, TV stars, athlete's, but I can't see Mo Dowd or McCain calling Miller up to chat.

still, it's better then 'best of's'.

he may not have many affiliates to come back to...my local affiliate (WWMJ in Bangor Maine, been with Imus for over 10 years) dropped him this morning

In the short run, you are correct. No matter who replaces Imus, there will be a fall-off in ratings for a while. I Imus is to be replaced, CBS has to simply bit the bullet and accept that they're going to have to suffer through a re-building process to get the listener back.

However, based on what I've heard of Miller's show, I think he might have the potential to eventually build the audience back up in the Imus slot if CBS is patient enough to let it happen.

So what will CBS/Westwood do?

Now CBS really has to make this decision.

I've nominated Dennis Miller. Any other nominees?

If you were PD of a station that had Imus, would you wait for CBS or do you think there is another syndicated morning host out there you'd like on your station?

Going local would be nice, in my opinion. But what if you can't hire a great morning talk host?
