Could Extra Sports 910 wind up speaking en Español this year?

Si, se puede*

Nurse Jeff and I don't think there are enough Spanish language radio stations in the Valley, let alone on AM. If rimshot KMIA out of Black Canyon City can pull such big numbers with ESPN Deportes, then Equis 9~Ten should clean their reloj!

* or as the Nearly Bald One sez....si, se pway-dah

Just for grins.....

Let's say KFYI finally makes the jump to FM. Maybe PPM convinces CC that KYOT is not as strong as they think, or maybe they abandon KNIX. (They've all-but-abandoned it anyway. It's a shell of its former self.) So KFYI moves to 95-5 or 102-5. They simulcast on 550 for a while, and then move XTRA back to 550 (where they once were, incredibly). That means CC could compete for a sports contract if one of the teams ever gets sick of getting juked around between 620 and 92.3. The Suns would never leave 620, I would guess. And the D-backs are similarly inclined - but both teams might be willing to look at a new home one day since neigher Sarver or Kendrick has the old-time loyalty to KTAR that Jerry Colangelo did. The Cards and ASU have bounced around many times, so they could move. And the Coyotes? We'll have to wait and see if they even stay here, but of course, they're already on XTRA.

So.... If KFYI jumps to FM and XTRA was moved to 550, which makes it more viable for play-by-play (much better nighttime signal than 910), I could see 910 habla-ing Espanol....

KFYI 102-point-five-fifty. It may be sooner rather than later--the KNIX PD
left the building today (from item posted on R&R).

Buck must be spinning in his grave seeing how Cheap Channel has dismantled
what was his pride and joy.

Who is the Repeater Radio country format version of Ryan Watercress?

Wouldn't Kay Oh Why have a better shot at reaching those 65+ demos on 9~Ten? And just how did they transport three letter calls from 5~Fifty to 12~Thirty awhile back?? Somehow the Nurse and I recall the Old Gringo saying three letter calls could only be used again if they had been on the same frequency in the past. We're more up in the air than a Chrysler dealership!

Nope...a three-letter call can now be moved from one station to another, as long as it's within the same city and same ownership. KOY has done it (550 to 1230), as has KFH in Wichita (1330 to 1240), and probably one or two more that I'll think of as soon as I hit "post." This wasn't the case under previous versions of the rules, which is why KOH 630 in Reno became KKOH 780 when the programming moved to that 50 kW signal a couple of decades ago.

I guess the movie Used Cars is about to become a collector's item.

Darner Motors has been around since about 1939, IIRC. :(

Apparently (if you remember his slogan), the only person buying a car from him was his daughter. Chrysler would never kill dealers that are making big money for the Bankrupt Boys in Detroit.

Then 9~Ten should be the new home for Kay Oh Why. That way Clear Channel will have had those calls on three frequencies. But imagine if Gumpdusky buys 12~Thirty...then Lumberyard 14~Forty might be the new home of Kay Oh Why!

Fifty Five Feenix....Kay Ohhhhhh Whyyy
